Speaking at the NZUGA Supper in London, UK on International Women’s Day, Friday 8 March 2019

Fritha Bevin-McCrimmon, Stantec's Project Engineer from the Newcastle office in the UK, has been invited to be the keynote speaker at the New Zealand Universities Graduates' Association Supper taking place on Friday 8 March in New Zealand House, London.

Fritha grew up in Dunedin, New Zealand and moved to Christchurch to study engineering at the University of Canterbury. The beginning of Fritha’s career coincided with the 2011 earthquakes which had a devastating impact on the infrastructure of Christchurch.

During the Supper, Fritha will be speaking about her experiences of supporting the rebuild of the city and how she helped manage multi-million dollar construction projects for SCIRT (Stronger Christchurch Infrastructure Rebuild Team).

The event is taking place on International Women’s Day, an important global observance celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.

An advocate of STEM, Fritha has a passion and ambition to break down the stereotypes and perceptions of engineering. She was recently awarded the ‘Rising Star Award’ at the Women in Science & Engineering (WISE) Awards in recognition of her ongoing commitment to actively inspire the next generation to pursue a career in science, maths and other related subjects.

The event starts at 18:15 and is open to all; members, non-members and non-graduates are all equally welcome to attend. To find out more about Fritha’s speaking event, click here.
